Applied Studies courses meet weekly on a set schedule. All lessons are scheduled in 1-hour blocks with exception for 90-minute blocks to meet student needs. Private lessons are not billed by the minute but rather by the lesson. Each student is given the ultimate private or individual lesson advantage by combining highly individualized lesson plans to meet our curricula as well as flexible lesson times.
"Flex-time" in SESMB speak is a scheduling format that allows for students to each have adequate time during that weekly lesson to become productive, independent learners on their own during the week. Each student varies in needs, therefore, we allow up to 15 minutes under/over as a part of scheduling. Students requiring 90-minute blocks are schedule in a 90-minute block. And that need is fluid, changing as students change periodically throughout the learning process.
Longer or shorter lessons does not mean more or less work to learn and study! Lesson times accommodate the learning process! Sometimes a student picks up quick and finds him or herself fully loaded with a week's worth of work. Other times, she or he will need more questions answered before being capable of handling the week's assignments! We are here to suit your individual needs. So as a community, we ask all students to have some flexibility surrounding their scheduled times so we may provide the best experience for each student!
...And if you need to make that occasional appointment or event (that cuts it close to your child's scheduled lesson), just tell us in advance! We'll accommodate you!
